Implementing Microsoft Teams for DTEK Group

Now it is difficult to overestimate the role of communications in achieving the success of any company. Realizing this, the DTEK group of companies decided to improve the existing communication tools to support effective work and cooperation between numerous employees.


DTEK for many years used Lync Server 2013 as a platform for corporate communications. However, from 2023, support for this solution was discontinued, which carried risks:

  • Lack of technical support: Solving technical problems and vulnerabilities became difficult or impossible.
  • The danger of cyber attacks: an outdated platform made the company more vulnerable to cyber threats.
  • User dissatisfaction: Lync Server 2013 did not meet the expectations of modern users regarding functionality and usability.
  • Limited features: the platform did not allow to implement new necessary functions, such as video conferencing with a large number of participants, collaboration on documents and integration with other systems.

Given this situation, DTEK has set the following goals:

  • Choose a new UC solution: replace Lync Server 2013 with a modern and reliable platform.
  • Integrate VKS: provide the possibility of video conferencing with high quality communication.
  • Integrate telephony: combine corporate telephony with the UC platform.
  • Increase productivity: Provide convenient tools for communication, information sharing, and teamwork.
  • Increase security: use a platform that meets modern cybersecurity requirements.


One of the key aspects of the successful integration of Microsoft Teams into DTEK's infrastructure was the flawless interaction with existing systems. To provide high-quality video conferencing, we chose the Pexip Infinity platform. Its flexibility made it easy to integrate various video systems already used in the company. One of the biggest technical challenges has been network optimization to support a large number of simultaneous video conferencing. Thanks to close cooperation with the MODUS X team, we were able to develop an effective solution that ensured stable operation of the system even during peak loads.


To integrate corporate telephony with Teams, we used Cisco CUBE SBC and Microsoft Direct Routing. This combination made it possible to maintain valid phone numbers and integrate them into a single communication platform. One of the biggest challenges here was the migration of a large number of users and the configuration of call routing rules.


Microsoft Teams can be an effective tool for creating a small contact center. This solution is especially suitable for small and medium-sized businesses, because it combines all communication channels and tools for processing customer requests in one environment.

Results: Teams effectiveness in action

The implementation of Teams, integration with VKS and telephony brought DTEK many advantages:

  • Increase productivity: thanks to convenient tools for communication, sharing information and teamwork, DTEK employees began to work more efficiently.
  • Cost reduction: Integration of corporate telephony with Teams allowed the company to significantly reduce telephone costs.
  • Increased employee satisfaction: The new communications platform received positive feedback from employees who appreciated its convenience, functionality and mobility.
  • Improved communication: communication between employees has become faster, more efficient and more convenient.
  • Acceleration of decision-making: due to the rapid exchange of information and the ability to hold online meetings, the time for decision-making has been reduced.
  • Increasing competitiveness: using modern and reliable communication tools makes DTEK more competitive in the market.


The implementation of Teams, integration with VKS and telephony became a successful project for DTEK, which allowed the company to significantly improve its communication capabilities, increase productivity, employee satisfaction and ensure optimal use of resources to maintain a single infrastructure.


DTEK plans to further develop its communication platform by adding new functions, strengthening unified communications and integrating various methods of interaction, such as channels, chats, video conferencing and other means of collaboration, with other systems.
